The teacher who teach us English Literature introduced this book to us because he choosed this book to finish his essy for graduate. This book should be good. One of my classmates told me it is trully terrific. Unfortunately, I missed that lesson.

The book divides into three parts and an appendix. Frankly, I do not remeber much the first part. The second part is about Winston and Julia; they live in a society where Big Brother is watching you with telescreens and spying by others. The third part is about the torture on Winston. Hmm...I read that one years ago. It didn't leave such a strong effect on me, but yes a great book with an impressive ending...George Orwell is amazing; how many people can write "hard to leave aside" novels with such strong political stands. His essays are even better.

Last year I saw the film at philosophy class...it was a nice film, but a bit sad and..unfair!:(

I remember a bit of his aim. He wanted us to write what freedom was for us and to compare it with the "freedom" of the film. mm..a

0In my opinion the book is absolutely great. I haven't read it in english so far but the german version was gripping and also fascinating in a way. The oppression the protagonist has to suffer from is so well described, you can really put yourself in his position.02br
