geo-political temperature of the Middle East

Iran's short and medium-range missile tests on Wednesday and Thursday have sent the geo-political temperature of the Middle East to a new height, with Israeli defense minister warning of his country's readiness to act against Iran.

Are there any mistakes in the sentence? Thanks

Thanks Optilang.

One more question: can I use "to shoot up" instead of "shooting up" in the sentence?

have sent the geo-political temperature of the Middle East shooting up a new height

have caused the geo-political temperature of the Middle East to shoot up to a new height

But my preference would be the first version.
