Topic about genetic engineering is very sensitive these years and the reason for that is this technology shows great potential as well as threatening to the whole world. While I can’t deny it has brought us many benefits but I believe that we have to be very careful to use this two-edged sword or we may bring catastrophe to the whole world.

On the one hand, human has used some method from this field to solve food issue and medical problem. From theory to practice, we have developed plenty of food which contains abundant nutrition or can grow in extreme environment. As a result, human has suffered less from famine. Besides, the medical industry benefits a lot from this technology. The scientist can use genetic engineering to produce vaccines and parents can correct a genetic defect before the baby is born. The whole history of this technology shows us it just like a magic wood and if we use it viciously, what could happen?

The negative implications of genetic engineering abuse are mainly manifested in the ecosystem and artificial super virus. Some scientists argue that genetically modified food may cause diseases to the human body, and we can't guarantee that the plants we developed are safe into the food chain because it may damage the whole ecosystems. What's worse, there were news said some mad scientists re-created deadly virus's DNA in the lab and it's perilous if the virus was leaked out. Biological is deadly when we use it inappropriately. As far as I'm concerned, we should be very careful to use this technology and if we use it un-morally, it will be a pandora's box. the implications of such practices would be unprecedented

To sum up, there is no doubt that this science does create many beautiful things for human. However, if we use this technology to play god, we may bring the devil to the whole world. So, when we use it to create or change something, think about the consequence seriously.
