Which of the following sentences is correct? Is there any difference between them?

He is my father's friend.

He is a friend of my father's.

I think both are correct!!:D but First one sounds better:P

Both are correct. There is a difference between them.

The first means He is the friend of my father.
The second means He is one of my father's friends.
