He was a batchmate of mine from the batch of the year 2000 in the police academy.
What would be a natural way of saying the above?My impression is, batchmate is not standard english. Please note that I would like a word that informs only that the subject and I attended the academy starting the same year and does not hint at whether or not we were on friendly terms.
Also ,any corrections on the question itself are more than welcome.
