GCSE English Language Coursework

For my GCSE English Language coursework, we were given the task to think of a controversial topic and explore both sides of the argument. I have chosen the "Abolition of the Death Penalty". I have written it as a formal letter to the President. My purpose is to inform him about the changes of attitudes death row has on prisoners, and to persuade him to abolish it once and for all.

I have finished my draft and my teacher has marked it. She said that I need to I need to make my purpose clear from the start and that's the bit i'm struggling on. I'll be forever grateful if you help me do this correctly.
