Hi, In my opinion, many people find it hard to define or distinguish between these words. The City of Toronto now has long, detailed definitions, and I still don't understand. Best wishes, Clive

In my opinion, many people find it hard to define or distinguish between these words.

I think it is like this:

Garbage is food waste, also sometimes called "wet waste".

Trash is other stuff.

Rubbish is what gets thrown out - no special category.

Actually they're all synonyms... So it doesn't matter which one u use, u always mean worthless material, refuse, discarded objects.
