Hello! I was playing a game, and saw there a monologue which took place in some inn. Kleppr is the owner of that inn.
Guest: All your drinks are watered down, Kleppr. You aren't fooling me, and you know Lisbet can't afford to pay me enough for the finest drinks anyhow. |
Can anyone explain:
1) What is "watered down"?
2) Why isn't Kleppr fooling the guest? I mean, if "watered down" drinks mean "containing less alcohol", then the guest should be displeased with that. And here "aren't fooling" indicates that the owner treats the guest well (being honest with him that his drinks are waterd down), and the guest kind of says that it's okay.
Where am I being wrong here?
