Game

Hello,

what does 'game' mean in this context? I browsed the definitions in dictionaries but none of them seems to fit. I know 'game' as in 'a game of cards', but I suppose it means something different here.

"No One Would Have Died If PUAHate Killer Elliot Rodger Learned Game"

"Six lives would have been saved if there was a societal mechanism to steer sexually frustrated males like Rodger into learning self-improvement, game, and masculinity"

"These men don’t believe in game and instead think the only path to a healthy sex life is to be rich and good looking [...]"

I'm a native English speaker in the US, and I never heard the word "game" used like this before I read your post. And I looked online and didn't find anything on it. But I looked around the website you got the article from and it is used as a basic word on the site.

  • The meaning is something like: the possessions and abilities you possess that enable you to relate to modern women.

Thanks a lot for your reply, this is very helpful. I found this term on a second website, but apparently in the very same context (dating women). I also found two other definitions on the website urbandictionary, it reads:

6) (n) a measure of smoothness with the opposite ***
7) (n) lines or moves you use to get the opposite *** into bed

I think that matches your explanation

There's a movie called "He's Got Game," which is about a star athlete. In this context "He's got game" means he's a star athlete, good at his game. This is a different usage of the word "game" from the one on the website you quoted. Note how the word "game" is used on that website: "if...Rodger learned game," "steer males...into learning...game," "These men don't believe in game." "Game" here

Oh, I thought it might be the same meaning. Thanks for clearing this up, Anonymous. I now understand what they mean by 'game'.

The movie "He's Got Game" may be about a star athlete but this is not referring to his "Game" as the game that the athlete plays. This is jargon, that I've found to be originally used by the African American community and has since been picked up by younger people of all backgrounds, that means "a male that is successful with women". Whether its his good looks, money, possessions, or whatever…T
