Future work or the future work?

I feel confused how to start this sentence, should it be:

"Future work includes solving features intersecting issues"

Or

"The Future work includes solving features intersecting issues"?

Top answer

If this is the first mention of the future work then omit "the". If the future work has already been mentioned then "the" may be appropriate, but it may be better to use "this". I would need to see the full context.
