For an advanced class, perhaps. It's b).

I assume the instructions ask the student to choose the phrasing that a native speaker would most likely use.

I'm a non-native and I've got to admit that such tests make me crazy. You are not supposed to show your understanding of the exam question and find the possible answers to that, but to guess which answer is the right one to satisfy the author of such an ambiguous task.

... although frequently the instructions ask the student to choose the "best" answer, not the "right" answer, thus recognizing that there may be more than one "right" answer.
