Future in the past

How would you explain the "Future in the Past" and "Future Perfect in the Past" tenses?
Are these names used by linguists or maybe they call these structures in a different way?
Thanks in advance.

Hey,

I'm not sure, I don't quite remember learning this in school, but I'd say that future in the past is when we use the modal verb WOULD,

i.e: I would like to know more about history.

Future perfect in the past:

I would have liked to know more about history.
