Teachers, please help me with this sentence. I'm wondering why the continous form of "drive" is used in here when just "Should you drive?" would be enough. Is it because it's a near future? Please help!!! Thanks!

The situation where that was used is that a female patient is calling a man and asking him to meet her somewhere far away from the hospital. And worried about her conditions, he asks her if she's going to drive to where they're supposed to meet. Now I think I understand what he meant. Thank you!!!
