Hi,

Defuse - I usually see this used for disarming bombs.

In a house, I usually put t fuse in / take a fuse out.

Thank you very much!

So is there no exact verb other than "remove" above?

attach/ detach the fuse

insert/ (remove) the fuse

plug/ unplug the fuse

connect/ disconnect

Does none of the above sound right?

(Of course putting in and taking out are great, but I wanted to say it shorter.)

Sometimes it depends on the type of fuse. The ones which ***** into "incandescent light bulb type" sockets are now rare in the US.

The majority of fuses have been replaced by "magnetic breakers." They "trip" automatically. You must usually "reset" them manually, but some are self-resetting.

Some "cartridge fuses" (automotive and industrial) press into a pair of spring clips.
