Furthering of English study

Hi everyone, I've been, officially and unofficially studying English for around 10 years. Now I'm able to read English novels & academic papers, and watch English movies & television without subtitles; I even wrote stories in English passable in a writing workshop. But that's not enough for me. You see when I read I often find words that are new to me but I could just skip without much difficulty. My mind seems to have formed a filtering mechanism, and I seem to have stopped learning new words. There's more: poetry. Maybe my brain is wired differently by my mother tongue (Chinese) or something - I just have a Really hard time grasping poetry. Its grammar, rhythm, or even imagery are simply beyond me at this moment. How can I overcome these bottlenecks? Any suggestions? And thanks in advance!
