Funneling Through an Empty Line

Is there a word to describe the process of funneling through an empty line for an attraction/ride/et al (ie: at Disneyland) even though no one is waiting in line? I remember seeing a word to describe this on a website as the "Word of the Day" but I forgot the word.

Hi, I can't think of a word like this. To me, 'a line' means 'a line of people'. Thus, it makes no sense to me to speak of 'an empty line'.

  • If there are no people, there is no line.
  • For example, if you went to the movie theatre lat night and there were no people in front of the ticket counter, would you say 'There was an empty line'?
