dec09 I did not him to know what was in my mind even in a joke/fun/ even by way of joke/fun. I'm not sure I understand your meaning. I did not want him to know what was in my mind at all, even when I was only joking.

I did not want him to know what was in my mind at all, even when I was only joking.

Iam very much satisfied with the above. But is there any substitute for joking. It is actually by no way [in joke or in behaviour or in normal talks or by forwarded emails etc ] I did not want him to know what was there in my mind for him.

please suggest and thanks very well in advance

I'm still struggling here.
You regularly or occasionally communicate with this guy, but you don't want him to know your intentions.

Do you mean the communications are not addressed to him directly, but he gets to see them?

They sometimes have something to do with him, and you don't want him to know it?

You have something in mind for him (you're planning to do someth

I did not want him to know what was in my mind at all, even in jest.

This was something I was searching for but does this mean only joking and I was fooling with him. Please can I know what exactly 'jest'mean over here?

"in jest" means "in a joking manner", "not serious".

When you say something in jest, you don't really mean what you say.

Sally: What a cute dog!
Sue: If he's so cute, why don't you marry him? (Sue laughs.)

Sue is obviously speaking in jest. She says something that she believes is amusing. She doesn't really mean what she says.

Is this grammatically ok now?

"Not even in jest I wanted him to know what was there in my mind."

Please suggest.
