Funeral Rites

Please correct the following. Thank you.

Funeral rites were performed with all the reverence they deserved. Uncle was cremated then. I saw bellows of smoke coming out of his pyre and traveling skyward. Those who saw me standing near Uncle’s bier, with sullen face, thought that I would cry my head off at least now. But I didn’t.

Crestfallen, I was now sitting on the Rameswaram seashore with my hubby, looking through the swirling giant waves. But, they were, it seemed, sulking, hesitant and not willing to come and lash at the shore, for they could not find uncle anywhere by my side. Suddenly, I started laughing, laughing thunderously. The people around me grimaced as they were slapped by my untimely laughter tearing into the sombre moment
