Hi,

What is the diference in meaning btw funds and funding? Is there a case when they are interchangeable and have the same meaning?If yes, please give me examples.

Do some searches at Business Week (I gave you the site) for both and gather examples.

Funding is more general, more elegant, something like "financial means which support something." Funds is very specific - money.

In Philip's opninion, both means money but funding means money coming.

In simple terms, I would prefer to say

funds = money

funding = the action of providing money. It's essentially a gerund.

I would avoid the idea of 'money coming'. For example, government funding for the arts community means that for the govermnment, it is 'money going'.
