Full sentence answers to questions.

Does anyone have any ideas where I could find material and good explanations to teach this skill to my students. That is, how to take the question and make it into a full sentence answer. eg. why did the chicken crossed the road? The chicken crossed the road because...
I guess this is a grammar point, and I am sure there must be rules or some way to explain how to do it
Please help.
