Full of hope or hopes?

Hi. Which is correct? I think both are correct sentences, although we may see the phrase "full of hope" more in writing.
I also think the following are maybe benedictions or part of benedictions. Thank you for your help in advance.

1. May he lead a life full of hope.
2. May he lead a life full of hopes.

Either is possible; #1 is probably more common. There is no significant difference between speaking and writing, I think.
