frumpled

Does anybody know what 'frumpled'means? I had looked it up in all dictionaries that I could find, including the 'urban dictionary', but none of them has this word.

However, the google search showed that 'frumpled' is used commonly in daily conversation in America. And if I understand correctly, the word 'frumpled' seems to come form a children show.

Could you please tell me what 'frumpled' ususally means?

And what does 'two perfectly frumpled braids' mean?

Any opinion would be appreciated. Thank you very much.

regards,

I do not know the answer to your question about frumpled. However, about the strange signs I have to say that sometimes it happens when you copy a text from Microsoft Word. I do not know the technical details.

Webster's Third New International Dictionary, Unabridged says "frumple" means "wrinkle", but mentions that it is mainly used in British English.

I think it means twisted in Thefreeman's sentence. And also could have the same meaning in frumpled fairy tale that happens to appear in search result when googling frumpled.

Thank you, Philologist. But the word 'frumpled' seems to be used as an adjective. The following are the examples from the google search. I totally can't understand what they mean.

regrads,

He saw a frumpled bald-headed man talking to a frumpled bartender and a frumpled
bar-***** sitting fur

Oh, yes. There are lots of 'Frumpled fair tale' in the research result.

Is that a children show?

Could the 'frumpled' come from the show?

A frumpled fairy tale is a changed or twisted version of a classic fairy tale. Frumpled can refer to a person who does not have a fresh, alive face, maybe a dull or something like that, something that does not look good to the eye.

Thank you again, philologist and languagelover.

If you know what braid is, you shouldn't have any problem understanding perfectly frumpled braids considering that frumpled means twisted. You twist your hair to form a braid, and when it is perfectly/beautifully done, you can say it is perfectly frumpled.
