Hi guys,

As Yoong Liat said earlier, The plural form fruit is rarely used.

In the last year, I'm sure I've used the word 'fruit' quite a lot, but I wouldn't be surprised if I didn't use the word 'fruits' at all in that time.

I'm not sure I understand your point, Goodman. That's not debatable at all to me. That is just a normal, everyday sentence. It is simply a general statement and means that any type (i.e. all types) of fruit is good for you.

Ok Amy, maybe I’ve opened a bag I shouldn’t have. My point is, yes, it’s a completely grammatical sentence. By “debatable”, by I meant if I said “fruit contains many of the vitamins for we need for a healthy life”, would you prefer it over “fruits contain many of the vitamins we need for a healthy life”?
