Frosting, icing, filling

Hi,

I noticed that some people use the indefinite article when talking about fillings and icings, while others choose to omit it.

“I’m making a cake with (a) chocolate icing.”

“The cake has (a) vanilla filling.”

What do you think?

Thank you.
