Fronting a participle or adjective and follow it with a comma OK?

Hi. Please help. Could we front a participle or adjective in a sentence and follow that with a comma, like the examples below? For no. 3, I think this would be a better sentence: Being sad, he went to his room to be by himself. Thank you in advance.

1. Saddened, he went to his room to be by himself.
2. Disappointed, he went to his room to be by himself.
3. Sad, he went to his room to be by himself.
4. Surprised, he took off his hat right away.
