From/to/to/to and commas

Consider a sentence like, "The concert will feature a wide range of musical styles, from swamp-soaked New Orleans blues, to dry and dusty Texas country swing, to intimate singer-songwriter ballads."

Are the commas necessary? I would argue no, unless you want to suggest pauses. In the actual sentence I'm wondering about (which I don't have with me at the moment), there are commas, and the pauses sound okay since it's a fairly long sentence with lotf of information between each "to." But is there any sort of general ruling or philosophy in place for this construction?

Thanks!

In sentences like this, I think it's as much a matter of personal stylistic taste as anything else. If you feel the commas help to make the sentence easier to read then include them, otherwise don't.
