"From" vs "on behalf of"

When introducing yourself in an email, do you normally say "I am writing from X company" or is it better to say "I am writing on behalf of X company"? So far, I have used the latter, but I don't think I have ever come across it in other emails, so I was wondering if it is correct.

Thanks fpr your help!
