The question I have is as follow:

By including pieces of cloth, newspaper, wallpaper, and other materials in his work, Picasso's innovation had a important influence on twentieth-century art.

a) Picasso's innovation had an important influence on

b) this innovation of Picasso's was important in its influence over

c) Picasso's important innovative influence was on

d) Picasso was influencial, with his innovation, over

e) the innovative Picasso was an important influence on

I immediately crossed out choices, a), b), and c) since "By including" must be followed by a person (in this Picasso), otherwise it becomes a dangliing modifier.

Then I picked d) for an answer, since I though "the innovative Picasso" is not a standard way of saying that Picasso was an innovative person.

But the given answer was e).
