From my understanding...

Would a native speaker use the term "from my understanding", or does this sound strange?

For example: "From my understanding, he chose the wrong way to rech his goals."

Dear sir, It is said by native speakers. You may also say «It is my understanding that», «As I see it», and «My understanding is that». Kind regards, Goldmund

Perhaps it depends on where you are from, but I would say that "it is my understanding" sounds much more natural (to an American English speaker).

Take care,
