Can one say
a. Such a statement does not surprise me from a man like him.

?

It is supposed to mean I am not surprised that a man like him has made such a statement.

c. From a man like him such a statement does not surprise me.

I am sure that the sentences would work if there is 'coming' before 'from'. But would they work if the word 'coming' is not there?
