From Francis Bacon's essay... "to take heed"

Dear All,

Here's a line from Francis Bacon's essay "The Most Tolerable Sort of Revenge"

"but let a man take heed, the revenge be such as there is no law to punish"

I'm not quite sure what take heed really means.

Can someone enlighten me please?

Thanks
