From 1980

Is my sentence grammatical please?

It is evident that in these countries the production of electricity almost doubled by 2000 from 1980.

I want to say that it was, for example, 100 in 1980 and reached 200 in 2000.

Chekhov It is evident that in these countries the production of electricity almost doubled by 2000 from 1980. It's not wrong, but it's a little awkward. I'd write "It is evident that in these countries the production of electricity almost doubled between 1980 and 2000".
