frivolous

To call this frivolous is insulting the things that are frivolous.

Is this more frivolous or less? Please help me understand which is the right interpretation.
Thanks.

I think that it's more frivolous.

The more common joke is: "To call him a jerk would be an insult to jerks everywhere."

IMO, it could be both. Context would show which.
