Before I didn't really thought of watches as a collector's item. I thought it was just something people wore/wear everyday.

which is the correct verb or are both useable?

Before , I hadn't really thought of watches as collector's items . I thought it was just something people wore/wear every day. -- Both verbs are possible.

  • Before , I hadn't really thought of watches as collector's items .
  • I thought it was just something people wore/wear every day.
  • -- Both verbs are possible.
  • Native speakers normally regress the dependent verb with the reporting verb, hence 'wore'.
