i have a doubt about the position of sometimes in negative sentences.

is it possible, i mean gramatically correct, to say this: ' I don't sometimes go to the movies'.

if not can you explain me something about usage.

Or, if you are in the habit of going to the movies regularly, you might say "Sometimes I don't go to the movies; I go bowling instead." But "I don't sometimes go to the movies" is awkward and confusing -- it's not clear what you mean to say."

Hmmm, this is a bad example. I mean who would say "I don´t go sometimes to the movies." I cannot imagine a situation where it makes sense. Mostly we go sometimes to the pictures. Hmmm, it is a good question if sometimes works with negative sentences. Let´s imagine a situation where it works: Let´s assume a worker often oversleeps... I could utter something like : "He isn´t at work on time sometim

You have put sometimes in the right place but it's not a very good word in this sentence. One of the rules concerning the position of adverbs of frequency is to put them after not:

I do not/don't often go there.
He is
