Though I am not a teacher;still I would like to say that this doesn't sound natural.

1. How can make my sentence more natural?

The outside of his villa is American in style, but inside, the decor is French.

(What is American style, out of curiousity?)

I guess that Steven is referring to American style of architecture.

To keep these words but make them sound more natural, I'd say

- Outside his villa is built in the American style, but inside his villa is decorated in the French style.

Thank you. And what is an "American style of architecture" to you? I'm just curious what people picture.To me, the very word "villa" makes it sound non-American.
