freedom of [the] press?

Is this an error or did the author refer to it as a concept? Because the definite article is omitted before the word "press"

"But does the Constitution not provide, they ask, for freedom of press and freedom of speech? What about the Bill of Rights? What about the First Amendment? Well, I answer, what does the Constitution actually say?"
