free from/far from
Hello,
Please look at these sentences.
(1) These vegetables are perfectly free from chemicals.
(2) These vegetables are perfectly far from chemicals.
Is (2) different from (1)?
Is expression of (2) strange?
(I thought "far from" is used only when there is possibility that "these vegetables" and "chemicals" are the same, but I was told the expression might be used also in this case.)
