hey guys I'm new to this forum. I have a kind of grammatical question
what's the difference between being used to and getting used to? For example: I am used to sth and I get used to sth

Top answer

I am used to = I recognize it as normal I'm getting used to = I'm working on it, but I'm not quite there yet

I used to jog 5 miles in the morning, but my knees are so bad, that I can't do it any more.

There was no hot water in the morning in my parent's house. I got used to taking cold showers, even in the winter. I still take cold showers.

I am used to getting up at 6 AM. I don't need an alarm clock.
