Would it be natural to use the word fragrance with coffee or tea?
The little apartment was filled with the fragrance of coffee.

My inclination is 'aroma' is more common. The translation into French is 'parfum' and Italian is 'fragranza'. 'Smell' suggests no delight in its recognition as coffee.
