I wish to stress that text that folllows the colon is a piece of the a bigger text, How can I say it correctly?

Fragment of the story: "........."

Piece of the story: "......."

Extract of the story: "....."

or................................................?

Neither of these sound like good English to me. Do you have any other suggestions,please?

Much depends on how long the part is, and on whether it is reasonably coherent.
