Fraction?

Hi! everyone.
Could you tell me what does the coloured sentence mean?
(It was actually spoken in a movie.)

Character-A: Does that mean we could
assume paralell realities to be existing?

Character-B: In the 50's yes,
nowadays nobody believes that.
I only believe what I see, and I don't want
to see anything. A parapsychologist would say,
what happens in that house
is a fraction between possibilities.
Thanks!

Hi I think it is saying: If you believe that parallel realities exist, then you can number them - 1, 2, 3 ... If you don't believe in them, you can - perhaps - still talk to your colleague by saying: - Let's say there are possibilities 1 and 2. If you insist, we can say there's also a possibility '1½' (the fraction between) but, in that case, it is very difficult to say what that means It's a little like a metaphor (and is similar to Platform 9¾ in Harry Potter, if you know that) Dave
