Four times as few

Does it make any sense to say "This time, four times as few people have attended...."

"Four times as few" is the part in question.

Right. It seems like it is a bad way to say it

I'd say it's really confusing. I know what "four times as many" means, but "four times as few" makes my head hurt! Whatever it's trying to say, I'm sure there's a better way of saying it.

How about:

Car A goes five times slower than car B. or

Car A goes one fifth the speed of car B?

Yes. To my ear it's better without "of".
