Hello.

The word 'airbags' is plural while the phrase 'safety standard' is singular, so which sentence below is correct?

1) Four airbags are a safety standard in modern cars.
2) Four airbags is a safety standard in modern cars.

I would not call either one wrong, but I would probably go with "is" because what you mean is that the presence of that many of them is the standard.
