Found that ....
after the introduction of Pericles’ citizenship law of 451BC, which restricted citizenship to the sons of Athenians and found that they had to prove in a law-court that their mothers were indeed ‘Attic women’.
I cannot really make out the meaning of “found that they had to prove“ . Help me out pls!
