Fossil fuel is the main source of energy. In some countries, the use of alternative sources of energy is encouraged. Is this a positive or negative development? (Ielts academic)

It is hard to overstate the importance of renewable power, especially in the era of the energy crisis. Some countries recently encourage to use this kind of power in all processes of production. In my opinion, I find that is a two-sided affair.

Particularly, it is obvious that alternative energy would have some downsides. The first one is that carbon-free energy is not a stable source. Because of a huge world energy consumption, it is hard to meet that worldwide demand. Additionally, that kind of power which is quite new as well as not very commom to many countries is prohibitively expensive to store and produce. Secondly, some countries use renewables for negative purposes. For example, nations which focus on developing in military such as North Korea or Iran weaponize that type of power, hasten the uranium enrichment which is the main weapons-grade nuclear material, and make them global security threat.

On the other hand, it can be seen that alternative energy could be beneficial for several reasons. Firstly, a cacbon-free energy source is the greener substitute. In fact, the influence of consuming fossil fuel is very terrible. Therefore, changing what fuel we use in machine to renewables nowadays is very necessary. What’s more, that kind of energy would be a sustainable solution for the scarity of traditional energy. Because alternative power generated from renewable source would become an indispensable factor for the long future of humans such as discovering the universe.

In conclusion, although some downsides of taking of using alternative source make it seem like a bad idea, I would contend that its advantages are more considerable than its negative influences.
