Formal word for 'offbeat'

Hello. I am trying to explain to a committee that I have been involved in innovative, offbeat projects as part of my work experience. Since this is an admissions committee for b-school, I would like to use a word that conveys the same meaning, but in more formal, appropriate way. Can anyone please suggest a solution?
