Formal letter to university?

Hello, I don't know whether or not this letter is formal enough....
And isn't it too short..?

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am (my name) from (school).

I applied for BA programme in (college) and noticed that the shortlisting result is informed by an email or letter.

I would really appreciate if you could inform my shortlisting result through email instead of the letter.

I am looking forward to receiving your response.
