formal letter to claim back a tax

Question

Hi everyone , i need a help , i need write a letter to HM Revenue and Customs , i will be leaving abroad for good and i wont to try get the tax back which i had to pay through all years being in UK .

Have a look at the above link - there is a link on the page to forms for claiming tax back.

Your Tax Office should be able to help with the procedure.

You can always ask your local Citizens Advice Bureau for help.

Well I know were and how I should claim the tax back , unfortunately I quite do not know how I should specify in the form of formal letter to HM Revenue why I should get this tax back , cause of the (what??)

You need to try to calculate how much tax you think you are owed, and then write to your tax office.

Dear Sir

I will be leaving the UK permanently on .... ............. 2008, after having worked here for .......... months/years. It would appear that the tax deducted from my income has resulted in an overpayment of ........... I would therefore like to claim a tax refund for the period .............. - .................

Upon leaving the UK I will cease to be a resident, and will be returning to my country.

I trust this is enough information for you to process my claim.

a reply to all not just the above statement

You can only claim back tax that you have overpaid-not all the tax paid if your income was liable. whether you are leaving the UK for good or not, during the time you worked here, your income is calculated and any tax that should be paid would be deducted through PAYE.

P85 form needs to be sent with your P45 keeping the top copy for yourself. If you did not complete the relevant forms when you arrived in the UK (P86) you will be required to do before any calculation is done.

The amount of tax you think you have overpaid is irrelevant, as you probably dont realise what income is taxable and rates which are used for each.

my income tax was 2x amount cos i and my few X employer submit together,i need some formal letter to claim back my income tax .
