Formal Letter - experimental work on diploma thesis

Hello to everyone!
Could someone please have a look at my letter, because I have a strange feeling, that my English
has become rather rusty^^.

Dear Sir or Madam,

I would like to express my interest in research work on your faculty during the summer semester next year, as an Erasmus student. I would like to do my experimental part of diploma thesis on RNA biology or gene regulation.

I am 22 years old student of the fourth year at the XYZ, University of XYZ, XYZ. I am very enthusiastic, hardworking person who is always looking for some new experiences. I am also very active in our student society as XYZ.

Biotechnology was always my field of interest. Last year I attended XYZ, where I was working in the Department of XYZ. This year I applied for research in the Department of XYZ at our faculty.

I am convinced this experience would strongly enrich my future studies and help me in my prospective professions.
